USE THEMES Themes are great for decorating because the color schemes are already chosen. A favorite sports team, for example has its particular colors, and a seaside theme has it's defined colors. LOOK AROUND YOUR HOME Choose colors from items you have in your home. It could come from the beautiful picture over the mantle, the print on a piece of furniture in your sunroom or the floor rug in the dining room. CHECK OUT THE STORES Department stores keep up to date on the latest colors and color combinations. Walk through the bath, bedroom and furniture departments for inspiration. GATHER PICTURES Browse through home decorating magazines for pictures that appeal to you. Cut them out and place them in a folder for reference. BUY DECORATING BOOKS There are hundreds of interior decorating books available to help you choose a color scheme. Books are a good choice because you can refer to them throughout the decorating process and for future projects. WALK THROUGH MODEL HOMES Several times a year builders like to show off some of their new homes. In our area there are Parade of Homes and Home-A-Rama events where you can walk through newly built and interior designed homes. These homes can provide a lot of ideas you may not have thought of in terms of color usage and room design. LOOK ONLINE It is easy to find color inspiration online. You searches can be as broad or as narrow as your needs are. For example, you are wanting to redecorate your bedroom in blues.
